The award honors an industry partner for their innovative thinking and making their destination, business, event, or attraction even more appealing to visitors.

1:00 In the thirteen years it has operated, the Haunting of Keystone has grown in popularity, making it an important economic boost each year to Keystone, while devoting ten percent of its annual gross to community improvement. As the event's popularity is grown, so has the impact in this small town in terms of motel reservations and restaurant businesses. In twenty twenty three, event attendance was up thirty four percent, said Governor Noam for their efforts in providing a haunting good time for visitors. It's my privilege to present this award. Nile's Screen Park from Niles, Michigan, will award scholarships to local high school students. Each five hundred dollars scholarship is awarded based on community service, economic need, and academic merit. Eligible schools include Nile's High School, Brandywine High School, Buchanan High School, Dowagiac High School, Edwardsburg High School, Penn High School, and Lakeshore High School. Interested students should speak to their guidance counselors to receive the scholarship application. Zombie Joe's Underground Theater Group in North Hollywood, California, is bringing back fan favorite the Dark Dark Ride Ride for three weekends of intoxicating thrills February second through seventeenth. On January first, the earliest depiction of Disney's Mickey Mouse, Steamboat Willie, entered the public. Horror filmmakers have wasted no time taking advantage of this iconic character, with two menacing mouse horror films in the works.

6:06 First up is Mickey's mouse Trap, and it had been directed by Jamie Bailey and written by Simon Phillips. The film features a masked killer dressed to the iconic rodent, terrorizing a young woman and her friends inside an arcade and amusement complex. The release date has not been announced, but filmmakers say they are hoping for a March twenty twenty four release. Another film in the works will be directed by Steven Lamort, known for The Mean One, a horror parody of The Grinch. He describes the horror comedy as having a sadistic mouse that will torment a group of unsuspecting ferry passengers. He plans to start production this spring. It all comes from our love of these characters, he said in an interview filmmakers. We're all kids in the sandbox. We love taking them and playing them in different ways. It's not a desire to ruin these characters or make a quick buck, but to love them and honor them and show them in a new light. With the excitement that this new public domain figure is generating, we are sure to see even more uses in horror and haunts, but be sure to use caution. While the specific portrayal of Mickey Mouse from Steamboat Willie as a public domain, Disney retains the rights to newer versions of the character. More modern versions of Mickey Mouse will remain unaffected by the expiration of the Steamboat Willie copyright, and Mickey will continue to play a leading role as the global ambassador for the Walt Disney Company in our storytelling, theme park attractions, and merchandise. A Disney spokesperson said in a press release, we will, of course continue to protect our rights and the more modern versions of Mickey Mouse and other works that remain subject to copyright, and we will

7:39 work to safeguard against consumer confusion caused by unauthorized uses of Mickey and our other iconic characters. Mickey is not the first beloved children's character to receive the horror treatment. AA Milns Winnie the Pooh entered the public domain in twenty twenty two, and in February twenty twenty three, filmmaker Reese Frake Waterfield brought us a Winnie the Pooh, Blood and Honey one year later. He plans to release its sequel, Winnie the Pooh, Blood and Honey two. In a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, director Rees Frake, Waterfield and producer Scott Jeffrey discussed the first film success and how they planned to make the sequel bigger and better. While the original Monster cost about seven hundred and seventy dollars to design, this new titular Killer cost over twenty thousand dollars, designed by a dedicated prosthetics crew whose past credits include Harry Potters, Volde Martin, Star Wars characters Freak, Waterfield and Jeffrey don't intend to stop with Winni the Pooh. The duo have a slate of films in the work inspired by classic tales, including Bambi and Peter Pan.
